SOUL TRAIN

I remember as a child, feeling so shorted because we were not allowed to play secular music in the house because Mama Elsie said that they were "Blues" and that was not the type of music befitting the house of a ministers wife. HOWEVER, once a week, on Saturday afternoons, she would allow us to watch one show and boy would we make up for all the days we were saints. That show was "Soul Train". On occasion, she would even stop by the television and say, "Look at them gals snatch it. We used to do that when I was young, but we really knew how to get it". Soul Train was a religious experience for my family. You couldn't do anything, cut grass, get your hair braided, go grocery shopping or to the show, until after Soul Train. Do you remember, Soul Train?
